This is a method of stimulating the brain by using a magnetic is used to generating tiny electric currents in the brain. Since the brain sends signals through electric currents, it is therefore possible to modify these signals by using this type of stimulation.

Caution
  • Relatively safe


  • Side effects are very rare


  • When they occur, side effects include:


  1.   Acute disorientation, a brief episode

  2.   Seizures

  3.   Fainting or lightheadedness

  4.   Hearing loss

  5.   Pain and Headache


  • Use with caution if you have electrical gadgets attached to you e.g.


  1.   Diabetes Sugar control gadgets

  2.   Pacemakers

  3.   Defibrillators


Therapy for:
  • Smoking cessation


  • Depresssion


  • OCD

Comments
  • It is safe and requires no surgery


  • Although reseach continues into TMS, it has already been approved by many regulating bodies in Europe and America


  • It can be expensive
