Fancy Lotions and douches may damage the vagina
Do not clean the inside of the vagina immediately after sex
It is not advisable to share sex toys. If you do, ensure that they are thoroughly cleaned before use. In addition, consider using condoms to cover the sex toy
Therapy for:
General
Maintain adequate body hygiene
Think of getting tested for STIs if you notice symptoms or if you have a new partner with symptoms
Vagina discharges are generally okay if they don’t have an unpleasant smell
Wash your genitals daily with warm water. Avoid chemicals.
Uncircumcised men should pull the foreskin back and clean the penis tip once daily
Vaginal douches are not advisable, they may harm more than they help
Females to request a cervical screen from the doctor if between the ages 25 - 64
Before sex:
Check your sex toys for cracks and defects
Avoid use if cracked, or cover the defects with condoms etc
Avoid brushing your teeth. Use a mouthwash to freshen your breath.
After sex:
Pee, Wash & Drink
Gently clean any visible body fluids:
- Wipe with soft material or
- Wash with plain warm water
Wash your hands with soap and water
Use a mouthwash: it freshens your breath ready for your partner and it cleans your mouth or germs you might have taken on
Drink some water to replace the fluid you lost during sex, and to allow your kidneys produce more urine
Have a pee as soon as you can: it flushes the germs out of the urethra. Don’t rush off from your partner just to pee: wait for a good time
Clean your sex toys according to the instructions
