This is the immersion of both feet in a liquid medium for a period of time. Epsom salt, apple cider vinegar or other herbs may be added to the solution. They are available in health spas or as home-use versions

Hot liquid may damage the skin of the foot
Sitting down for long periods without the legs actively moving may lead to clots in the leg

The skin plays a significant role in excreting waste, and the principles of foot baths may perhaps be based on this evidence
There is no scientific evidence that foot baths actually improve or increase excretion of toxins through the skin
Other unsupported claims include: balancing the body's pH and improving immunity
When Jesus washed the feet of the disciples (Gospel of John: 13), it seems to have ben out of a symbolic teaching about humility, and not about detoxification
