This is the provision of free and confidential information to assist people with legal, money and other social and workplace issues they may experience. It is well established in countries like the United Kingdom, and many other countries have similar equivalents. Up until now, it has been absent in many Low-Income-Countries

Caution
  • Their remit is usually limited to varying degrees in different countries


  • Do not expect to have extensive personalised service: many employees are well meaning volunteers or individuals working free of charge


  • They do not have the power to advice against the laws of their country, or to overturn verdicts against you, even if you believe such verdicts to be unfair

  • They are usually guided by the principles of confidentiality, impartiality and independence
