It is a therapy whereby you talk yourself into healing by re-directing your thoughts and spoken words towards a positive direction. You are able to hypnotise your own mind to adopt the thoughts that will push you towards an improved wellbeing

Caution
  • Autosuggestion should not be used to replace the treatment advocated by your caregivers


  • Autosuggestion without any active intervention is as good as placebos, hence always talk to your healthcare giver about your conditions

  • It is similar to Autogenic Training (AT): 

 

        -    AT accesses the unconscious body functions


        -    Autosuggestion accesses the mind



  • They attempt to increase the efficacy of medicines by praising its effectiveness e.g.:


        -    'Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better' (Coué)


        -    'I love my body, I am well and healthy'


        -    'With every breath, I release stress out of my body'



  • It replaces the 'thought of illness' with the 'thought  of cure'



It has strong similarities with: 


  • Faith Therapy


  • Positive Thinking


  • 'Self-Affirmation' and 'Good Omen' thinking


  • Yoruba (Ifa) belief: Apè móra eni là ńpe Tèmídire - The positive power of the tongue


  • The healing power of the Mind, Mind over Matter
