This is a treatment regime that combines sound therapy and counselling to help your management of tinnitus. A device is used to generate noise that diverts the attention away from the tinnitus, and psychological therapy is given to teach the individual to ignore the noise

Caution

  • It may be quite usually expensive


Therapy for:
  • Tinnitus: 


        -    Ringing ears



  • Hyperacusis: 


        -    Unusually loud perception of some noise e.g. vacuum cleaner



  • Misophonia: 


        -    Certain sounds cause a strong negative reaction in the individual



  • Phonophobia: 


        -    Fear or intolerance of loud sounds

        -    Tinnitus Activities Treatment (TAT)


        -    Progressive tinnitus management



  • Another similar therapy is Tinnitus Masking


  • It attempts the masking of the tinnitus sound by using one or more of:


        -    Noise or white noise


        -    Music


        -    Notched music therapy


        -    Natural sounds


        -    Hearing aids
