This is the use of silver as a form of therapy. It is found available as flakes of silver in a liquid medium (colloidal silver) or silver in an ointment

Caution
  • Colloidal silver can cause many serious side effects when taken orally including:


        -    Permanent bluish-gray discoloration of the skin (argyria)


        -    Poor absorption of prescription drugs like antibiotics and thyroid medications



  • Silver is not thought to be safe or effective in treating any disease


  • It is not a mineral that is useful or necessary for wellbeing


  • It is fairly safe when used on the skin in moderation


  • Discuss your health concerns with a healthcare giver; never rely on silver

  • Skin infections


  • Acne


  • Eye care for newborn babies


Comments
  • Claims of treatment for HIV and cancer are unfounded and can be dangerous to wellbeing


  • Other unfounded claims are for cold, flu and improved immunity


  • It is best not to take any silver preparations by mouth


  • Silver can also get into the body through air, water or food. These levels are tiny and usually not dangerous


  • Jewellery-making or soldering exposes the individual to silver intake
